Adaptive Controllers Leadership

A stern reminder for all of us!

There is no “stasis”. If we stop evolving at the pace of change, we get left behind. Blockbusters didn’t. Kodak didn’t. No wonder we don’t see them around anymore; like so many others.

“There is a price to pay for everything we do and everything we do not do.”

J. B. Peterson.

In times of peace and plenty, we can get away with a lot of mistakes. You know, victories tend to hide a lot of errors. But in war, small mistakes can send entire countries into oblivion and entire nations into slavery. When waterholes start to dry up, it is our ability to compete that helps us survive.

I used to drive by a cute little florist shop on my way from the office. I often thought of stopping by to pick up some flowers for my wife but I never saw that place open. Their business hours were 9 a.m. To 5 p.m. I, like most people finished work at 5 p.m. Of course, I never saw them open. They did fine though; until the influx of entrepreneurs around 2008 when they were swiftly taken out by the competition that (among other things) was willing to stay open and sell when people were driving back from work.

We can’t afford to keep on doing things “the way we have always done them”. This was always a terrible approach but since COVID19 it’s downright dangerous.

Are you regularly taking a look to see if there is room for generating more value in your business that will make you more competitive? You can pass some of this value on to your clients and help them survive this new economy too.

We are all in this together. Stay safe and help someone if you can.
